The story starts with a trip to the Annapolis Boat Show in 1982. We went aboart a Crealock 34 made by Pacific Seacraft in Fullerton California and were hooked. I needed one, but with a price several times my annual income made that a dream.

Over the years sailing magazines carried ads like this extolling the virtues of "my" boat.

Everywhere I looked there was another ad.

If there were not ads, there were articles... and books.

At any time there are maybe 20 of the boats for sale somewhere in the world. In the summer of 2004, there were 4 for sale in N and S Carolina. We went to look at all of them. By that time a 1988 boat had depreciated to the point that I coul afford it. Adair wante to have a boat with a tiller rather than a wheel and wanted a boat that was in good condition and well equipped. This boat met both requirements, so we bought it.

Let's go on a tour.

The first two summers we owned the boat, we made trips to the Chesapeake Bay leaving in April after income tax day and returning in June around Father's Day. Last summer we spent a couple of months sailing alone the N and S Carolina coasts. During that trip anchored in Cape Lookout Bight with some friends, the plan for a Bahamas cruise was hatched.

We originally planned to leave at the end of Nov after hurrican season and before the inter storms begin. But if you want to make God laugh, make a plan. A n. of things delayed our leaving to Feb 3. It was cold as we motored from New Bern NC where we keep the boat to Palm Beach where we doul cross to the Bahamas. It was cold...

We arrived at the Surf City bridge aroud 11 am and asked for an opening. The bridge tender agreed, but told us that the next bridge was being painted and only opened at noon. Since we could not get there in time, we stopped in Surf City, walked around, at a restaurant meal, and went through the Figure Eight Island bridge the next day.
